Cryogenic pressure relief
Many industrial gas companies now supply their gas in its liquefied state to provide storage and handling benefits to customers. These gases are typically stored in insulated containers, so called dewars, and are turned back to a gas on site, whenever demand is generated. Damage to the dewar can allow air or liquid into the vacuum space inside the device, significantly increasing the pressure inside the dewar and reducing its insulating properties. While most cryogenic gases are not flammable on their own, fine industrial gases such as nitrogen and helium are capable of creating an oxygen-rich environment that can facilitate the ignition of flammable materials.
The CASH range of regulators offers solutions for various elements of the cryogenic storage dewar, including the pressure build circuit, the safety relief system, the economiser circuit and the final line circuit (house line). Cryogenic relief valves from CASH, BAILEY and BIRKETT protect the dewar from over pressurisation, while MARVAC low pressure tank protection valves offer reliable protection for storage vessels and tanks, as well as low pressure piping systems. AMAL flame arresters can be installed on the tank roof to prevent the propagation of fire into the system.
